Hi,

I was asked to prelong an old application for a few months
but the machine it runs on fails...So now I'm trying to run
the following on a 9i database :

Runmenu50 -
Using Oracle Toolkit Version 01.00.20.03.02
Using PL/SQL Version 01.00.46.03.01
Using SQL*Forms Version 03.00.16.12.09 (Production)

I thought to run the original 7 client and connect it to the 9Db but no luck there.
I never had experience with forms Anyone any ideas?!?!

Thanks,
Peter

Any particular error message or may we take I guess? You are too vague to get a useful reply here.

Sorry for that.
I have no experience with forms at all.

What I tried to do was copy the whole software tree and product tree apply the settings to the 7.2.3 product tree

Then I try to start the application on the server
I gives me an ORA-01034 Oracle not available.

If I just do a sqlplus:
Enter password:
ERROR: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-07429: smsgsg: shmget() failed to get segment.
SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory

I think the whole 7 just does not want to speak to 9
I do not know how forms connect though .....

Thanks
Peter

To get Forms to connect to a 9 database you have to compile them against the 9i database.

You can't just copy the Oracle environment from one computer to another, it has to be installed. There is also the problem of 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the software.
