HAVE U COPIED THE TNSNAMES.ORA FILE?

U should copy the contents of tnsnames.ora (created by the database) and paste it into the tnsname.ora file (created by the DS)

try it out first.

Ben,

By cross posting and repeating yourself you are VERY rapidly approaching the tolerance limit of this site. Ask a question ONCE, edit it if you wish to add a bit more information, or reply to your own post if you believe that the extra information is worthy of being emailed to the other members of the thread. We will answer your question as soon as we can. However, MANY of us work with Oracle as a profession and as such we only access it Monday to Friday day-light hours, screaming at us over the weekend is not helpful.

Have you read the stickies? Have you searched this forum for your problem?

I suggest you search this forum for 'tnsnames.ora' and 'installation'. Which version of XP are you running? SP2 perhaps? If so, have a look at http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/52166/67467/ concerning setting USE_SHARED_SOCKET=TRUE in registry.
